October 2026

EDIT: FUCK, FORGOT TO RECOMMEND A SET. Here’s from a party I went to with oomf a couple months ago.

It’s fall in the northern hemisphere; The window we explicitly marked as a possible release period for 45pb along with summer, yet there’s not that much noise about the game lately outside of our tokyo game show adventures.

Honestly there’s only good news except for one little thing.

Basically I’m almost done revising text so it can be sent to localization. The first wave of QA bugs has been taken care of, and the bulk of the work otherwise has gone towards replacing any placeholder assets, doing sound checks for cutscenes, and similar tasks to move towards a shippable game.

The one little exception: I still don’t know about a release date.

Not because of work going slowly or anything apocalyptic. We could easily be like “okay, let’s release on christmas” and actually do it, but we’ve had some chilling realizations: We’ve spent a ton of resources and time into 45pb without noticing, and throwing the game into the market just like that, counting on word of mouth and a twitter account feels wrong and honestly, while I think the game could do well like that (and it’s not like we need AAA money to keep us afloat), my concern is that after six years… such launch should have a little more oomph, don’t you think?

We’re still in the process of figuring out the actual release, then. That’s honestly the one real obstacle now that development is its very last stages. There’s an internal deadline to finish the game, but not to release it just yet.

Regarding this, there’s some good food cooking in the background, and if things go well, you should be hearing about 45pb soon and loudly.

If not, well, word of mouth will have to do lol. The game is gonna come out one way or the other. For that you shouldn’t have to worry.

It was tough to accept we’ve taken so long with 45pb, though.

While the current iteration is only a couple years old, getting there required a ton of learning and exploration I wasn’t expecting. My solace is that once this game is finally out in the open, the result is a bunch of systems, knowledge and team work that will translate to faster dev times. My personal goal is to make at least 5 more games in the next 10 years, if not more.

The industry is heading towards a scary fucking reality, and I need to get out as many games as possible before it all goes down the drain. And also to prepare for a future where personal computing becomes the equivalent of sitting in the cuck chair; More than it currently is, anyway. The point is that I want none of that and need an exit plan lol

Newsletter should follow shortly after this dev log (give it like a couple days to a week). If you’re not subscribed yet make sure to do so here.

It was nice to write another one of these even if I didn’t have any cool dev anecdotes, or even real news to share. All in all I wanted to let you all know development is going well and we’re currently figuring out the launch aspect.

Bye for now!

PS: Over the weekend I worked on a cool game for Ludum Dare 60. It’s about taking care of old computers!

Also, the Two Essays about Loneliness double CD is about to sell out. Make sure to grab a copy here while you can.

This is a very special experiment to me, as it was a dream come true to sell these at comiket. Give this remaining inventory a nice home, will you?
